The Lickey Hills Society

Working to protect and enhance the Lickey Hills and their environs

Major Donations / Grants

Over the years, in addition to the much valued monetary support of our members, the Society has been fortunate enough to receive money gifts, grants and donations. Some of those are detailed below

Date Donor / Grantee Amount Notes
March 2024 Lickey and Blackwell Parish Council (grant) £500 Used towards purchase of 2 new tree poppers for the Rangers
Sept 2023 Long Distance Walkers Association £200

Each year, the LDWA organises one of its major challenges, a 100 mile walk in 48 hours. This year’s walk took place mainly in Worcestershire and Warwickshire and included a section in the Lickey Hills

Dec 2022 Barnt Green Parish Council £50 This went towards the purchase of fire beaters
Dec 2022 Lickey Rotary Club £124 Trees for new Orchard near the Old Rose & Crown
Sept 2021 Eversheds Sutherland £250 This went towards tree Poppers and Litter Picking Equipment
Sept 2019 Evershed Sutherland £500 This went towards purchasing 2 medium-sized tree poppers, which are invaluable for heathland management
July 2019 Midland Adult School Union £15,000 The result of a successful grant application to MASU.  The bulk of the money was spent on information boards plus other items to help inform and educate the public, in line with the MASU’s objectives.
March 2019 Jack's (Tesco) Support Programme £500
2011 John Murdock Legacy £25,000 A very generous legacy from a local gentleman, with a love of the Lickeys, who did not stipulate how the money should be spent but asked that some be used for the benefit of walkers.
